Get the Look: Party Season Hair

We're happy to announce that the annual silly season is in sight! From the races to Christmas parties and New Year's Eve, party hair is essential for not only looking your best but also feeling great. We spoke to ghd Guest Artist, Michael Beel on what his favourite party hair looks are this season and how to achieve them.....

Beach Glamour

Soft, sexy beach waves with just the right amount of volume, glamour and understated mess is the perfect party season look in my books!

Beach Glamour

  1. On dry hair, blow dry 7-8 sprays of ghd Curl Hold Spray using the ghd Aura - the miracle hairdryer that helps smooth down the cuticle!

  2. Take a rough centre parting and using the new ghd Curve, pick up random sections and curl hair away from the face to help get that Victoria's Secret bounce. I like to use the Creative Curl Wand for this.

  3. Tip hair upside down and using your fingers gently break up the curl. Flip hair back over and use 1-2 pumps of ghd Smooth & Finish Serum to soften the ends.

Loose Braided Updo

The braided crown is a favourite festival look, which can be super sleek or a little tousled and messy. Today we're going for option number two, tousled and messy - think casual with a groomed edge. Lorde and Jennifer Lawrence have been sighted sporting this look, which is a lot easier than it appears!

Loose Braided Updo

  1. Work with your hair's natural texture and take a centre parting. Section hair into two ponytails just behind the ears. Keep a little hair out around the face. If your hair is dead straight put some slight movement in it using the ghd Eclipse, curling away from the face. Don't forget to use Heat Protect Spray.

  2. Loosely plait both ponytails. It's ok if strands of hair fall out...it's supposed to look lived in and undone. Secure the ends with hair ties.

  3. Lightly spray hair with ghd Final Fix Hairspray.

  4. Bring both plaited ponytails up and place near the front of the head. Pin into place using bobby pins. You want to be able to see the braids, go for 1-2 inches away from the hairline - don't go too far forward or too far back as it won't be so flattering.

  5. Spray with ghd Final Shine Spray to enhance your hair's natural shine.

We'll definitely be trying these two looks out.

  1. Apply ghd Total Volume Foam throughout the hair.

  2. Dry in using a ghd Ceramic Radial Brush in size 3 and the ghd Air Professional Hairdryer to create volume and soft movement.

  3. Using a ghd Tail Comb place in a soft diffused side part.

  4. Using the ghd Eclipse Styler, take large sections and define the hair's movement through the mid lengths by twisting the styler 180 degrees away from your face and sliding downward through the hair, making sure the ends stay straight.

  5. Allow the waves to cool then brush well using the ghd Oval Dressing Brush and spray with ghd Final Fix Hairspray.
