In our second installment of our MY CITY series, Wellington local and our lovely RUBY Wellington manager Tomoko let us in on her favourite ten places scattered throughout her city.

Hey! My name is Tomoko, I'm the Wellington Ruby store manager. I also like to think that I'm a professional pianist, basketball player, painter and friend maker. I moved to Wellington from Japan almost twenty years ago. I love how small Wellington is, everyone knows everyone.

1. Maranui Café

   Great views and the best big breakfast. Plus Miranda and Orlando always make sure to go when they visit Wellington!

   

2. Sweet Mother's Kitchen

   Mexican snack food, the best waffles and all day breakfast, you can't miss it.

   

3. Embassy Theatre

   Going to watch movies here always feels so special, it is such an amazing space. With all the premiers that they’ve had here it is really an iconic part of Wellington.

   

4. KK Malaysian Restaurant

   I’ve been going here with my girlfriends since I was 13. I love this place, delicious cheap food and it never fails me.

   

5. My flat

   I love coming home to my apartment, such a good space to relax after work. I have had such good memories here having had so many friends stay over and we’ve had some fun parties.

6. Oriental Parade, in the summer

   You can’t beat Welly on a good day.

   

7. City Gallery

   I love coming here alone to have some quiet time to just wander through and take a look at the amazing exhibitions they always have.

   

8. Majestic Restaurant, Courtney Place

   I love the yum cha here and the family that owns this place is so lovely!

   

9. Wasabi Sushi, Cuba Street

   I love sushi train and this place is the best tasting sushi place in town. It is always fresh and has a great range of sushi.

   

10. Wellington Night Market

    Every Friday they have a market here and the food is amazing. One of my favourite things to get is the Hungarian chimney cake. You can choose different toppings and it is made to order so it’s still warm when you eat it, so yum.

    

We asked Tomoko what her favourite pieces are from the RUBY & Liam autumn/winter 2013 collections...

Anything in the RUBY Cherry fabric, it's so striking and attention grabbing. I also love the Liam Comfy tops in the oatmeal and donkey, the fabric has a combination of silk and wool so it is really warm and snugly. It's such a great layering piece for the colder weather.

In October we launched the Spring/Summer '12 SURFACE TOO DEEP range in our Wellington, Old Bank Arcade store.
