In our fourth installment of our MY CITY series we had a chat with our lovely Dunedin manager Amy who let us in on her favourite places to hang out around her beautiful student-filled city.
I've lived in Dunedin all my life and I love it! Dunedin is a great place to live if you are interested in fashion and art, with it's range of fashion boutiques, cafes and museums. I love how you can get from one side of town to the other in no time at all.
This cute café is just along from RUBY and makes delicious salads and sandwiches. It's perfect for me to pop next door for lunch and coffee.
The students of Otago love this dairy for it's famous ice creams! They have recently opened a specialty dessert shop next door to the dairy. Definitely the first place to go if you have a sugar craving.
This area is especially great in summer, with the beautiful beach, walking track and cafes in the area. The Starfish Cafe at St Clair makes the most delicious kumara fritters!
When I was in high school I worked at this cafe and I have always loved it for its beautiful coffee. It has been iconic to the Roslyn area since it opened, nine years ago.
This reservoir area has a great walking track, which hundreds of locals use on a daily basis. It makes running a little more bearable with such beautiful surroundings!
This museum has recently undergone huge renovations and now features an amazing café and spectacular exhibitions, including the ‘Fabulous Frocks 2’ exhibition, which showcases dresses from the first half of the twentieth century.
This area in Central Dunedin hosts the best restaurants and bars in town. Bars such as Macs Brew Bar and Carousel are great for cocktails and a night out.
This store is on George Street as well as in Meridian Mall and has a huge range of sweets including specialty items such as Pop Tarts. Impossible to walk out without a purchase!
The best Vietnamese food in town and amazing service. The 5-spice grilled chicken is one of the yummiest options on the menu.
A wonderful BYO Italian restaurant. They make great pasta and pizza. Super popular for dinner before a night-out in the Octagon. Located in the historic Savoy building.
We asked Amy what her must-have pieces are from the RUBY & Liam autumn/winter 2013 collections...
Definitely the RUBY Liberty Denim Jacket. I love how the white stardust print is super versatile and looks great worn over dresses. The Liam Little Suit Jacket in Paisley is a standout piece, which is stunning when paired with the Liam Decided Pant in the matching print and I couldn't resist the RUBY La Belle Coat. It's beautiful in all three gorgeous colours and super warm and snuggly for the cooler months in Dunedin.
