LOOKBOOK: RUBY 'VAMPIRE' WINTER 2016

This winter, in a flash of ebony black and a gust of romantic mysticism, the RUBY girl hurtles through the underworld and into the arms of Vampire. Classic, seasonably appropriate and not alienated from RUBY’s quintessential charm, this collection takes a walk on the wrong side of town.

Born from recent adventures on snowy Alpine peaks, Vampire’s colour palette is both the ominous grey of a winter day and the rainbow after a thunderstorm. Grey marle, navy and black simmer away while a lustrous elixir of bottle green gives a touch of magic. A coat in spritely fire appears fresh and fun, while its redheaded temper bubbles below the surface. Silhouettes fall soft and gently below the armour of this desirable outerwear, the classic RUBY ruffle playing peek-a-boo from under the signature King Coat, reincarnated in rose pink.

Waterproof knife pleats undercut the collection, with crisp black angles creating an eerie swish with each stride. Silken faux fur, lumberjack check and glitter polka dots cheerfully tickle the senses, countered by the sumptuous teenager that is black velvet. A chambray camouflage brings light to the collection with its playful floral decoy.

Bold and brooding but not without frills, Vampire invites you to dance on the dark side. Every rose has its thorns, after all.

RUBY Vampire Winter 2016 arrives in store & online on Friday 1st April x

Meet Isobel Masters | Married in New Zealand 2016

It is so hard to pick one thing that was special, as I am sure every one will struggle with this question, my wedding felt like a crazy blur of an insanely special thing, followed by another insanely special thing. But one thing I remember very vividly, was during the ceremony. At one point, when I was trying to reign in the tears and hold it together, I turned to look at (what I thought) would be a calming face. A face that would stop me from getting so swept up with all the emotions - the groomsmen! So I looked straight into the eyes of Shaun's (my husband) long standing bestie and dapper groomsman. Always a laugh and never a moment NOT made fun of, I was sure this would be a safe bet. But, as to my surprise, he was brimming with tears and grinning from ear to ear. Needless to say he was no help in getting my composure back!

I currently live in London, but am a kiwi girl. All my friends know that I miss RUBY almost as much as I do them, so picking a RUBY wedding dress was a no-brainer. (In fact I even wore a RUBY playsuit to get ready in and was pleased to see the celebrant rocked up in a gorgeous RUBY dress too - meant to be!) Working on a wedding from the wrong side of the world isn’t easy, but it never felt like a challenge with the Celebrations team. Every email was swiftly answered, fabric swatches arrived promptly and they worked with me to ensure I got exactly what I wanted (despite never being there to try it on in person). The ease of the process was what I loved most about your service. That and receiving my amazing dress, obviously!

Meet Sarah Helm | Married in New Zealand 2016

Sarah Helm

The whole day was very special, there is something very magical about marrying your best friend in front of your closest friends and family. One thing that I didn't plan was one of my bridesmaids had prepared a playlist of songs to help ease the nerves whilst we were getting ready. This was filled with every girls ultimate girly song and once we were all ready the room turned into a big dance floor, it was like a scene out of the movies. I'm not sure the hair stylist would have been happy but it was so much fun and a lovely moment I got to share with my girls before walking down the aisle.

I loved every moment working with the Celebrations team. I didn't know exactly what I wanted and the girls were very patient and helped me piece together not only a beautiful dress but one that suited me. They had my best interests at heart and made the whole experience very special. They were exceptionally talented and before I could even suggest anything, they had thought of it. The Celebrations team were the loveliest group of girls and I can't wait until I need another special dress so that I can come back.

Meet Katherine Lovelock | Married in New Zealand 2015

Kat & the boys

It was amazing to have our good friends, Lawrence Arabia play at our wedding, which we kept a surprise to our guests. My Husband organised his young relatives to set off gold confetti guns from the balcony of Hope Toun Alpha which rained down on us when the band was revealed during our first dance. Quite a good distraction as we ran out of time to practice our first dance!

The whole experience was perfect. Aimee found a roll of beautiful floral silk, which had just enough to make my dress. It was meant to be! I felt completely relaxed and myself on my Wedding day, as I was wearing a dress that had been designed and made just for me.

Being able to select your own style, fabric and fit saved me from trawling Bridal stores in the hunt for what I wanted - the whole experience was just so easy.

Meet Anna Coe | Married in New Zealand 2015

Anna Coe - Colour

We held the reception at my childhood home which was transformed in a way that I could never have imagined. Our florist Naomi (from Leaf and Honey) made the tent area completely magical with flower garlands hanging from the central tree and amazing arrangements all around - I literally couldn't believe how amazing it looked.

Anna - Home

Anna Coe + Girls

Aimee was super easy to work with - she understood exactly what I wanted right from the start. Nothing was too much to ask and they were very flexible with fitting times (as two of my bridesmaids are not based in Auckland). The dresses were absolutely perfect - and fitted Anna, Sarah and Fra like a glove.

SISTERS ARE DOING IT FOR THEMSELVES: JULIA & LIBBY

Here at RUBY we've been closely following the dynamic sister duo, Julia & Libby pave their way in the world of health & nutrition. It's not surprising that only 4 years into their journey they have published their first cookbook comprised of, never seen before delicious wholefood recipes that help to nourish the body, mind & soul.

We spoke to Julia & Libby about their blog and how it led to them publishing their first book, Julia & Libby's Wholefood Kitchen....

How have your roles developed as your business has evolved?

We share roles within the business. Every day is different and we always have different campaigns we are working on which makes our job interesting and fun.

What inspired you to start studying health & nutrition?

We were both big party girls growing up but eventually it started to take a toll on our health. Libby decided to study nutrition and that’s when we started experimenting with healthy recipes and that is how our page started.

Has your blog lead to any changes in your personal lives?

The blog was first started because we had a change of lifestyle, not the other way around. By eating more fresh, wholefoods our health has improved dramatically!

In your opinion, where has the current wholesome nutrition movement come from?

There has been a huge health movement and we think it is because there is so much information coming out now about the food industry and how certain foods impact our health. There are a lot more people finding out that they have food allergies or intolerances and having to look at alternatives. When people start to improve their diet and lifestyle they feel so much better, it becomes a ripple effect.

What have been the main challenges you’ve faced since starting your business?

The main challenge has been having people doubt your authenticity and criticize what you’re doing. It used to bother us in the beginning but now we don’t give it any of our time.

J + L

What has inspired you the most along the way?

Our followers inspire us every day and knowing that there is a need for simple recipes that include lots of nourishing ingredients and taste great at the same time.

Everyone has got a vice, right? What's the one delicious treat you can't say no to?

J: Potato fries are my favourite. I always make up my own by chopping up potatoes and baking them in the oven with olive oil and salt. There is a kumara fries and aioli recipe in our book. These are both are a healthier and more nourishing alternative.

L: Cheesecake is my absolute weakness, especially cookies and cream. We have a beautiful recipe in our book called the ‘Peanut Butter Cheesecake.’ It is vegan and tastes amazing!

Do you have any personal favourite recipes from your cookbook?

The Watermelon & Mint Salad, Chicken Slaw, Beef & Quinoa Meatballs and the Lemon Curd Tarts. Too many to choose from.

What's are your favourite pieces from our latest RUBY collection's?

L: The Lila Pleat Skirt and the Aloe Crop Top.

Thanks ladies! We can't wait to start making delicious, fresh & healthy meals from your cookbook...
