During the winter months, we're always looking for that special something that will give our skin a healthy glow.
Last week, we caught up with RUBY old-girl; Jackie Lee, to talk about her new and dreamy product; Tahi Oils.
With Tahi Oli's natural healing properties, minerals, and antioxidants, they are specifically designed to aid skin regeneration, protect against bacteria and viruses. Not to mention, aid that summer glow...now that's what we're talking about!
Tahi Oils are available in selective RUBY stores and online now.
Read our conversation with the lovely Jackie below...
Tell us how you came up with the Idea for Tahi Olis?
The idea for tahi began during my first year studying Herbal Medicine. We were learning about Rongoa Maori (traditional Maori healing) and the healing benefits of our native plants. That inspired me to mix up a little concoction of almond oil and mānuka. When it worked so well I began sharing it with family and friends and they encouraged me to take it further. It comes naturally to me to promote the oils because I am promoting plants and it is really nothing to do with myself, although I make every bottle with love the plants are what naturally offer us these amazing benefits and I felt like it needed to be talked about and shared more.
Basically, it is the nature that we are surrounded by that led me down this path. The plants I use are so beneficial and it amazes me that they offer so much to us. Healing is what this is all about, it is a long game but when we slow down and choose to let nature help us heal I believe that is where the magic happens, it has worked wonders for me.
What’s your day-to-day skin routine?
Every day I use the oil to cleanse and moisturise my body and face. If I have makeup on I also use it to remove that. When I have something that needs healing I choose the appropriate oil and apply medicinally- as often as I can.
Your products have healing properties; can you tell us about these?
They do! Every ingredient I use has a significant amount of healing properties including anti-inflammatory, anti-acne and carminative. These properties help to heal and soothe acne, to relieve inflamed skin conditions or sore muscles and to calm anxiety and depression.I was lucky enough to spend a few days learning from Donna Kerridge a Maori healing practitioner, she walked us through a native forest and spoke about the healing properties each of the plants has. That sparked my interest and I began reading more about the plants and spending more time in the bush.
What’s one of the best pieces of advice you’ve received?
To be true to myself and use my conscience when making decisions.
What’s next for Tahi Oils?
I have been experimenting with some new plants and would love to integrate them. I am also planning workshops and consultations that will help people to learn about the healing benefits of a range of plants and give them the opportunity to create their own tahi oil.
Finally, what's your favourite piece from RUBY Good Witch?
My favourite would be the Good Witch Longsleeve! Nothing better than a magical woman!
Thanks Jackie x
