TAKE BACK with RUBY Says Recycle! “What is RUBY doing for Black Friday?” - a question that is asked every year. It has never felt right for us to engage with it. We know that:
SO, in November 2023 we launched TAKE B_ACK with RUBY Says Recycle, a pilot scheme where Rubettes could bring back RUBY and Liam clothing they were no longer wearing into any RUBY store...
A thriving future for our industry exists in a truly circular system. We envisage RUBY to be a place that celebrations both new and second-hand clothing. We want 25% of our sales to come from RUBY Says Recycle by 2030.
With any pieces contributed to TAKE B_ACK with RUBY Says Recycle, we will assess how much we can resell the pieces for and issue Rubettes with a RUBY gift voucher to the value of 40% of the resale price (regardless of whether we sell it). The pieces that we take-back from our Rubettes will then become part of our ever-growing RUBY Says Recycle stock! If you are interested in being a part of TAKE BACK with RUBY Says Recycle, you can contribute your RUBY + Liam pieces and drop them off at any RUBY store. See just how it all works in our guide here.
The items you return to us will be priced at what we believe to be a fair market value for the garment, taking into consideration its age, condition and demand for the piece. You will then be offered 40% of the RUBY determined resale price, in the form of a RUBY gift voucher. You have the right to accept or decline this offer, and have your garment returned to your drop off location, if you wish to wear again or resell yourself.
RUBY will be in touch with you via email from rubysaysrecycle@rubynz.com within 7 days of being dropped off at your store of choice.
Basically, just go hard! You are our biggest advocates, understand who we are as a company the most, and have pieces that are part of our history. You will notice when it comes to filling out your information when you bring pieces back that we ask for the provenance of the garments. Every piece has a story! We want to tell those stories to the next person who gets to take them into their lives!
Our team in store will not be accepting pieces that do not meet this criteria.
- Must be RUBY or Liam branded
- Fully functional & in good quality (no holes, broken zippers or seams, or stained)
- In a clean, freshly washed condition
- Cannot be current season RUBY or Liam available in store & online or online in any size.

Our team in store will not be accepting pieces that do not meet this criteria.
If you do not accept or decline the price emailed to you within the required 48 hours, the offer will be automatically accepted. You will then be emailed your RUBY Voucher for these garments within 5 working days of the items being accepted.
Once we have received your response declining the offer, should you wish to have the piece back, we will return the item to the store you dropped this off at. This will be available for you to pick up 7 days after notification, and we will hold this for you for a further 7 days. If your piece has not been picked up within this timeframe, your item will be donated to a charity chosen by RUBY on your behalf. By dropping your items off to RUBY for TAKE B_ACK with RUBY Says Recycle, you therefore agree to these terms.
When you drop your item into one of our Stores, our team will confirm per garment, if the gift voucher offered is declined, if you would like the item returned to the store that you dropped it off to for you to collect, or for this to be donated to a local charity, such as Women's Refugee or Rainbow Youth.
Anything your heart desires! Your RUBY Voucher will be valid to redeem in store and online for 12 months.
You will receive this in your email within 3 working days of acceptance. This will be emailed to you from online@rubynz.com.

All TAKE B_ACK with RUBY Says Recycle items are final sale, they cannot be returned or exchanged.
TAKE BACK with RUBY Says Recycle purchases earn 10 points per item purchased. See more on our loyalty program here.
You cannot use your existing RUBY loyalty points or vouchers towards any TAKE B_ACK with RUBY Says Recycle, as these are deemed as final sale product.
This program is focused through our IRL stores right now, however you never know how wide it go in future! Stay tuned for updates on our social channels and rubynz.com
We will not accept items that have been personally altered to specific measurements, as we are unable to give and accurate sizing of this garment. We can however accept items that have been hemmed, which needs to be noted at the time of drop-off in store with the RUBY team!
If it is not collected within two weeks of arrival to our RUBY store, it will be donated to a RUBY chosen charity on your behalf.
