One of the biggest joys for me is the day the cherry blossoms start to bloom around my neighbourhood. It marks a clear shift in season, when you know daylight savings is around the corner and everything just seems a bit brighter. This year in particular I think we all need a bit more sunlight in our lives!
RUBY Bounty celebrates what I am hoping is a season that keeps on giving.
The first print of the season, Lucy, is a lively watercolour floral, printed on our traced-back-to-source Silk Crepe de Chine. Most notable, the Lucy Silk Dress is the answer to my spring social plans, distanced or not. Bias cut, falling just above the ankle and with a completely open back, this is one of those classic RUBY pieces that you will keep forever.
I have a thing for a puff sleeve this season (well, most seasons), and our Kendall Linen Dress is the perfect show pony for this silhouette. Coming in a vibrant jade and candy pink, it’s already on the must have list for most of our in-house Rubettes.
As always, I am most inspired by colour – it usually dictates what direction I take the collection in. I was very much drawn to a juicy watermelon pink for spring, and countered this with clean azure blue, crisp white and black. Keep an eye out for our most coveted Corvette Trouser in Watermelon, as well as additions to our signature Mirella collection in this delicious shade.
When I was thinking about what I wanted to wear this spring, I couldn’t stop thinking about a 70’s vibe ditsy floral. The Bounty Floral, a romantic scattered bouquet in peachy oranges was exactly what I was dreaming of. A cape back blouse, with bow closures pairs perfectly with an ankle-grazing skirt; this duo is set to be the two-piece of the season. Or, if you fancy a three-piece, put on your matching RUBY face mask before you walk out the door, I know I will be.
Knitwear is an area that I am constantly experimenting with and for spring the pieces have taken a modern turn. Our Ima story in crepe knit, is sculptured in silhouette but with a delicate scalloped edge and party ready. The Ima Crop is already on heavy rotation in my wardrobe, worn under blazers, over shirts, and of course with Firebirds. Also in this story are our Milano shirt and two-tone dress. I fell in love with Milan on my trip last year and when I wear these I will close my eyes and imagine I am there.
Shot in Level Three, Bounty was brought to life in a socially distanced shoot in our head office with Bernie and Ella, who together, but apart, epitomised the freshness of the collection perfectly.
I can’t wait for sunnier days and the cool drink of water that is RUBY Bounty.
