You Do You ~ A Conversation With Our Liam Lingerie Models 07.11.25

What does it mean to feel comfortable ~ and confident ~ in your own skin? Liam Designer Emily Miller-Sharma sits down with Liam Lingerie models, Nancy, Bianca + Chante, to unpack what Lingerie means beyond the lace…

"I remember thinking, actually, I can be that person, I don't need to be ashamed of anything. This is my body, no one else is going to have my body. This is literally mine." ~ Chante Langeveldt

Em: These three women are the models we have been shooting for Liam Lingerie. I wanted us to sit together to have a bit of a chat about the bras and knickers we wear, how we feel about lingerie in general, how it impacts the way we see ourselves and how we think it impacts the way others see us.

For you guys today, genuinely, how has it been wearing the knickers and bras? How have they fit? Two of the three bras are just pull-ons ~ how's that?

Nancy: Comfortable. I think my biggest question was, oh we are all wearing thongs? This is the thing? I didn't realise people genuinely liked them. I think a huge part of that for me was having such discomfort in my body for such a long time that wearing something like that wouldn't have even registered. I have always been a granny panty girl. But, it's nice to kind of look at yourself and feel like, oh this is something that I would wear.

Bianca: With my experience today, I feel like the bras were really comfortable. I usually gravitate towards an underwire bra because they have a bit more shape and are a bit more secure. None of these bras today had underwires but they were all very shaping and supportive. I really appreciated that aspect as well as them being beautiful. I also love how the lace detailing comes through when you wear clothes. It just makes you feel a little bit sexy and cute.

Nancy: Can we also talk about colour!

Chante: The colours are beautiful.

Nancy: The details like the blue and the burgundy together kind of offset something. It feels personal. When you wear it, it feels like a choice you're making.

Chante: I liked the different colours as well, even just the cups and how things sat on me today was really good. I'm a bit more curvy and everyone has different body shapes ~ you don't really get to see that on a platform. I remember thinking, actually, I can be that person, I don't need to be ashamed of anything. This is my body, no one else is going to have my body. This is literally mine. I felt like there was just an underlying confidence that came from today. I was like: Oh my gosh, I have never tried these types of things on before, but I feel so much more enlightened to try them now. I loved today, it was so good.

Bianca: The straps, that aspect is so incredible. I would normally feel very uncomfortable not wearing a bra with a backless strap but the fastenings are actually so aesthetic, they look really nice. Just a simple black band or two black bands with a cross over. It's really delicate and feminine and I really like that.

Em: Question ~ bras typically with a wire, no wire or mixture?

Chante: Bit of both. After having a daughter, it changed. I just wanted to be comfortable so I decided to do the no-wire bra thing.

Bianca: I have gone through a lot of different weight changes growing up. When I was younger, I had quite a big chest. It was hard to find a bra that actually looked good and was actually supportive. I feel like in the beginning more structured bras were almost more of a negative thing. It was an area of my body I wasn't super comfortable with but as I have gotten older and more comfortable, I have progressed into all different kinds of bras, wire, no wire. Whatever makes me feel good and looks good.

Nancy: I think the same as you [Chante]. Once I had my child it was a completely different relationship that I had with my body and it was all about comfort. Off went the wires and it was just about support. I can see very clearly wanting to be really sexy when I was younger and that kind of tapering off into more comfort and being more comfortable in myself. Whatever I'm wearing, however I'm supported, I feel sexy regardless.

Em: What is sexy to you?

Nancy: I think it's just liking who I am. I have come to realise that my mind is what I feel is the sexiest thing about myself but also about others. Sexiness is not just a physical element to me which it used to be, certainly not now.

Chante: I think there is a lot of shame that comes from underwear because you don't know how people are going to perceive you when you wear them. I think it is also about having conversations with your friends saying...

Oh, have you tried this before?

Do you want to try something else?

So you want to wear a G-string?

Do you want to wear full-blown briefs everyday? That's also fine, that doesn't mean you aren't sexy!

Em: Beautiful, thank you for taking the time to do this, it actually makes me a bit tearful.
