With International Friendship Day this week, we're celebrating some of the connections formed here at RUBY ~ across stores, across roles + across the years...
Phoebe, Ponsonby Store Manager, on her friendship with Imogen, Newmarket Store Manager
I first met Imogen at a Range Viewing held at Head Office, and I was genuinely excited to finally meet her. I’d heard she was originally from Cardiff, which is just about an hour’s drive from Bristol, my hometown, so I had a feeling we’d get along well. Safe to say, we hit it off instantly.
At the time, I had been managing the RUBY Ponsonby store for just over a year, so when Imogen came on board, I reached out straight away to offer my support. I let her know that if she ever wanted to talk things through or needed anything, she could always give me a call. That initial connection turned into many great conversations over the phone, and before long, we decided to catch up outside of work over a beer, something us Brits are always up for!
Although we manage different stores, we're part of the same wider team, and for me, maintaining strong relationships with fellow managers is so important. It allows us to stay connected, share ideas, and support each other as we grow.
Imogen’s smile lights up any room she enters, and her energy is super infectious. We are so lucky to have her as part of our RUBY Whānau.

Jean and Millie are my absolute besties. Jean and I first crossed paths as OG interns at the RUBY Newmarket store, learning the ropes together and bonding over our busy Saturday shifts. Millie joined the club a few years later, and ever since, the three of us have built the kind of friendship that only grows stronger with time and a shared love for what we do!
We’ve moved through so many corners of the RUBY world together, from the shop floor to behind the scenes, and it’s a dynamic that just works. We’ve always resonated with one of RUBY’s unofficial mottos “works hard, knows how to party” and if there’s one thing our trio does best, it’s living that out to the fullest.

RUBY is such a special place to not only work, but also form amazing friendships. This is wildly true for Chels, Ken, and I, who have become very silly peas in a pod. We all work in quite different areas of the biz ~ Planning, Production + Marketing ~ but what brings us together is our love for a good laugh, a tipple or two and a genuine connection that was built around a love for what we do.
